Most Americans learned about the Tulsa mass*cre in the last five years. It happened in 1921. That’s nearly a century of erasure for one event. Now imagine there are dozens more — Rosewood, Florida. Elaine, Arkansas. Wilmington, North Carolina. Colfax, Louisiana. Slocum, Texas. Entire Black communities burned, shot, drowned, and driven out. Documented in newspapers at the time. Photographed. Then quietly removed from every textbook printed afterward. These weren’t secrets. They were deletions. And the deletion was the second atrocity.
