The United States of America is a nation renowned for its ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity. In the War of Independence the United States claimed to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Words that spark revolution and look great on paper, but in reality, freedom is different for everyone, especially if you’re black.

The U.S., often seen as a land of freedom and opportunity, has a complicated history when it comes to racial equality. Black Americans have played a significant role in shaping the nation’s culture and society, but they’ve also endured centuries of hardship and inequality.

From the dark period of enslavement, spanning nearly two and a half centuries, when millions of Africans were forcibly brought to American shores, to the monumental moment of emancipation following the Civil War, the journey of Black Americans has been marked by unwavering resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity. The struggle for civil rights, epitomized by the historic achievements of the Civil Rights Movement and the acts of Martin Luther King Junior, showcased the indomitable spirit of Black individuals and their enduring commitment to achieving equality.

However, the stark reality remains that Black Americans are fitted to a status of second-class citizenship, subjecting them to violence, discrimination, disenfranchisement, and deep-rooted social and economic disparities.
In this video, we share the real experience of what it is to live in the land of the free as a black individual.
